JKP Staffing and Search has been a client of Morgan Consulting Group beginning 1998 to present (most recently July 28th – 30th). My firm has grown tremendously from a one office with 3 of us to two offices supporting 17 total employees. Our focus for the last 16 years has been accounting/finance and engineering primarily in the energy and manufacturing sectors. I met Peter in Dallas back in the day when he was ‘doing his thing’ in front of a couple hundred folks in the same room….how times have changed. Now, being tucked away with 12 students for 2-3 days is nonexistent in any other training model and/or venue. The growth of our firm in the last 8 years has a lot to do with my “buy in” of the Morgan Methodology. You cannot attend a few days here and there and expect results….this is what I did the first few years. We got back home, were pumped, excited, ready to conquer yet within 30 days we were right back to where we started. I, as an owner did not commit to what is required. That requirement is to implement and keep the pencil sharpened at all times in order to consistently produce the right deals in our space….do not chase “purple spotted bunny rabbits”. Morgan Methodology teaches you how to build the correct infrastructure, how to stay and work within your sweet spot, how to compensate and incent your staff by things they can control and measure (APP’s Searches and Sendouts) and how to find and capture the best rookies in our market place. Morgan Methodology sets a standard, a bar, as Peter calls it. Those that fall behind, given Peter’s training, were not the right hires to begin with. I learned not to drop or compromise my corporate “bar” to accommodate an imperfect hire. His system keeps thing unemotional and non-subjective. The system works. The system is the “bad cop” and I am the “good cop” teaching and coaching so my recruiters stay in the system. My relationship has changed dramatically with my staff. The methodology works extremely well if you have a manager to drive it or, if not, yet you have the right team in place, the methodology drives itself.
JKP has grown our Direct Hire fee base literally by close to 500% since I made the decision to commit all I learned in the Management Clinic. One caveat: You cannot do bits and pieces of the system The mistake I made initially was sending my team for training and me personally attending the Management Clinic when I was not 100% committed to growing my firm. I just thought going to a training program would be good for us do. When I was really ready 4 years after my first Management Clinic, I retook the course. My desire to see this through was felt by my entire staff and they bought in seeing me get stronger, tougher, more committed. We then had exponential growth. Everyone.
Peter’s program is the best in the nation and I have been to them all….the comfort of learning in an intimate setting makes a huge impact. Don’t waste your hard earned dollars if you are not committed to improving your business beginning with how you track activity and ultimately raise production, a lot more production.
In 2010, when times were not the best, I brought Peter into my office. That resulted in a tune-up that really pulled us together as one, and everyone was on the same learning curve. It is a different type of investment because he’s not priced even close to his competition. You must be confident you are on board with the Morgan Methodology. If you are the investment is literally a spit in the bucket in return for (in my case anyway) close to a 500% ROI. Obviously, I recommend the management training, and send every new member of your team to the three day program so the entire team speaks the same language.
Today, we are a lean machine on target to exceed our budgeted expectations for the 2014 year. This is a great feeling. And, as we continue our journey, we continue to improve our skills for our clients and candidates and I owe a lot of those successes to the Morgan Consulting Group.
